Ultherapy, a non-surgical ultrasound treatment for counteracting the effects of time and gravity on your skin.

Surgery has always been an option for facial aging and rejuvenation. But now there’s ULTHERAPY, a non-surgical ultrasound treatment for counteracting the effects of time and gravity on your skin. The benefit of this 60-90 minute treatment is that it uses your body’s own regenerative response to gently and gradually restore the skin’s memory and underlying tissues.

Just like traditional ultrasound procedures, an applicator is placed on your skin which projects an image onto a screen, allowing you to see just the right depth below the skin to administer the heat. This achieves a positive effect on the deeper layers of the tissue all while leaving the surface of your skin undisturbed.

Your skin’s response to the energy stimulates the growth of new collagen. A gradual tightening and firming occurs, resulting in a natural lift of the skin and tissue over time.

Ultherapy is the only non-surgical procedure that allows practitioners to see below the surface of the skin and to specifically target the deep foundational layer of tissue that doctors address during surgical facelift. The ability to treat not just the skin but its underlying support system from the inside out helps to ensure both safe and satisfying results with no downtime.

There can be some temporary discomfort while the energy is being delivered, which is a signal that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Comfort thresholds and pain tolerance vary from patient to patient. Your practitioner will discuss your options for making the experience as pleasant and as pain free as possible. Patients typically leave comfortable and excited about the initial results and the benefits to come.

You are able to return to your normal activities right away, and there are no special measures you need to take. Your skin may appear a bit flushed immediately after the treatment, but any redness should disappear within a few hours. It is not uncommon to experience a slight swelling for a few days following the procedure or tingling and tenderness to the touch for a few weeks following the procedure, but these are mild and temporary in nature.

With just one treatment, the regenerative process is initiated but the effect will build gradually over the course of 2-3 months. Further improvements can even appear up to six months following the procedure.

Visible effects include lifting and toning of sagging skin. In the FDA trial, 9 out of 10 patients had a noticeable, significant lift of the brow line. This resulted in reduced skin laxity on the eyelid and a more open, youthful look to the eyes overall. Patients reported firmer, better-fitting skin in other areas of the face as well. There is also an invisible result from the procedure with the creation of new, more youthful, collagen and elastin that help strengthen the skin from within.

A good candidate for Ultherapy is someone with skin that has “relaxed” to the point of looking and often feeling less firm. A lowered brow line or sagging skin on the eyelids is often the first sign of “maturing” skin. While it does not achieve the results of surgery, Ultherapy has proven to be an alternative route for those who are not ready for surgery.

“After ultherapy, my skin has gradually shifted back closer to where it used to be and I didn’t have to go under the knife.”
“There was no downtime and the results are very natural. Nobody knows I had anything done, they just know I look better.”
“There’s no more hooding and it really opened up my eyes. I can now wear eye shadow.”
“Now I have the confidence to wear my hair pulled back.”
“There was some pain during the treatment, but it was worth the results I continue to see each day.”

Frequently Asked Questions about Ultherapy

What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a non-invasive neck, face, and brow treatment that uses ultrasound technology to lift and tone sagging skin without any surgery. The treatment works by targeting the deep foundations of the skin and depositing ultrasound energy where it will most effectively stimulate the creation of new collagen. It substantially reconditions and renews the skin from within, all without disrupting the surface and without any significant downtime.

What are the benefits of Ultherapy?

Ultherapy will not only lift and tone for more vibrant skin, it will also help you get confidence in your appearance back. More benefits to the

Ultherapy treatment include:

  • Non-surgical and non-invasive
  • General anesthesia is not needed
  • Treatment can be done in-office within one day
  • Treatment only takes about 30 to 90 minutes
  • Little to no recovery time needed

Who should get Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a viable option for anyone who is in good health but looking to correct any signs of early aging. This can include examples in which your skin is looking and feeling less firm, like when there is loose skin around the neck and chin or the eyebrow line is beginning to sag. Ultherapy can help lift the brow in order to reduce the excess skin around the lids and open the eyes more.

Because it is a non-invasive form of lifting the skin, Ultherapy is a good alternative to people who have either had a facelift before and want to prolong those results or someone who does not want to get cosmetic surgery performed yet.

Finally, an ideal candidate for Ultherapy will have reasonable expectations and a clear understanding of what the treatment can achieve. If you want a non-invasive solution to improve the signs of maturing skin, then Ultherapy might be right for you. Contact us today to get started.

What happens during Ultherapy?

We will make sure you are entirely comfortable in the treatment room and aware of what will occur during the procedure. After assessing the skin and agreeing upon the treatment areas, the nurse will begin administering the ultrasound waves to your skin. They will use a handpiece and move it over the targeted areas of tissue. At that time, you might feel quick bursts of heat at depths underneath the skin. This is due to the stimulation of the collagen-building process.

Can Ultherapy replace a facelift?

Ultherapy cannot replace the effects of a face lift because it is not using surgery to correct sagging skin. It is seen as more of an “uplift” and is a viable alternative for those not ready for surgery or those looking to extend the results of an earlier facelift.

Is Ultherapy safe?

Ultherapy is cleared by the FDA by demonstrating the safety of the procedure in extensive clinical studies. Since then, it has been performed on thousands of people worldwide with positive results.

How long does the treatment take?

The length of time for a treatment will depend upon the size of the area that is being targeted. A typical face and neck appointment will normally take about 30 to 90 minutes.

What is the recovery process of Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is one of the only lifting treatments that has almost no downtime. You are able to resume your normal activities immediately following a procedure, and there are no post-treatment instructions to follow. There might be some skin redness or tingling, but these symptoms are only temporary.

How long until I see results?

You may be able to enjoy some initial results right after treatment, but the ultimate effects of Ultherapy will take place over a two to three month period while your skin naturally regenerates new and more elastic collagen.

How long do results last?

The length of time that results last varies based on a variety of factors including the initial degree of loose skin, how your body responds to the ultrasound energy, and normal aging processes. In many cases, patients will continue to have naturally occurring collagen even after a year. If you notice your skin start to sag after this time, then additional treatments may be needed to touch up the skin.

Is Ultherapy painful?

Most patients report that there might be discomfort in the form of quick bursts of heat beneath the skin at times. However, this is a positive sign that the collagen-building process is being initiated. The sensation only lasts during the procedure itself and many people leave without pain, excited for the results to come.
