Patient Information

Your Consultation

The consultation appointment is the essential first step in the process of considering plastic surgery. It is your opportunity to ask all the questions you have regarding the procedure you are interested in. During the consultation, the surgeon you have chosen will determine if you are a candidate for that procedure. The consultation usually takes about an hour and involves the following steps:

Registration

When you initially schedule your consultation appointment with your chosen surgeon, we will mail or e-mail you all the necessary forms which we will need to create your new patient chart, such as demographic sheets, medical history, and insurance information. Or, if you prefer, you can simply click on the link “FORMS” on this page and print out the New Patient Information Form. We ask that you complete this form and return it to our office prior to your initial consultation, if possible. Upon your arrival at our office, our front desk coordinator will greet you and ask that you allow us to copy your insurance cards, if necessary. She will also provide you with a copy of our privacy policy. Your right to privacy is very important to us, so we guard all of your personal information and medical records with the utmost caution and discretion. You can read our Patient Privacy Policy here.

Physician Consultation

During your visit at Arkansas Plastic Surgery, you will be treated with courtesy and respect by our professional office staff. We want you to feel comfortable and at ease as you contemplate a surgical procedure. To begin your consultation, a member of our medical staff will escort you to one of the examination rooms. She will obtain basic information from you about what procedures you are interested in. You will then meet with your surgeon to discuss why you want the surgery, your goals, expectations and concerns. Plastic surgical procedures are highly individualized and should be done only for your own reasons, not to fulfill someone else’s desires or to fit any sort of ideal image. During your consultation, you should be prepared to discuss such topics as your medical condition, medical treatments, previous surgeries, family history, current medications and tobacco use. Your surgeon may also evaluate your general overall health status, perform a physical exam, and take photographs for your medical records. Your health, safety and overall satisfaction is our priority. The success and safety of your surgical procedure depends very much on your complete candidness during your consultation. Your surgeon will then give you his professional opinion about which procedures may meet your desired goals and objectives.

The Patient Care Coordinator

After your consultation with your surgeon, you will then be escorted to meet with your Patient Care Coordinator. She will discuss the cost of the procedure, including the surgeon’s fee, the surgical facility fee, and the anesthesia fee. She will also explain the various financing options for your surgery. You can click on the link “FINANCIAL” on this page to read about our payment policy and your financing options. If you have a particular surgery date in mind and would like to schedule surgery at that time, she will work with you to accommodate your schedule. She will explain to you everything you need to know about the operative facility where your surgery will be performed. Dr. Bauer and Dr. Young perform most of his surgeries at THE SURGICAL PAVILION. If you are only in the information-gathering stage, she will answer any remaining questions you may have, and she will be your contact person for any future scheduling needs. Your Patient Care Coordinator is here to care for you! She will be available to you at all times, and she will walk with you through the entire process of your surgical procedure.

After Your Consultation

After your consultation appointment, if you still have some remaining questions or concerns, the office staff is delighted to assist you. If you feel it is necessary, Dr. Bauer and Dr. Young would be happy to see you for a second consultation, and the clinical staff is always available to answer any questions over the phone!
