To Cellfina or Not to Cellfina… That is the Question!

Whether ‘tis nobler to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous cellulite treatments that do not work, or try the one treatment, CELLFINA, that does work. Anywhere from 80–90% of women are affected by cellulite.

What is cellulite and what causes it?

Cellulite are dimples and indentations in the skin found on the buttocks and posterior thighs. It is caused by connective tissue bands that run from your muscle to your skin, through the fat. These bands pull down the skin and create a dimpling. It can occur in any woman, whether they are thin, normal weight or overweight.

Treatment

Over the past 20 years that I have been in practice, we have seen a new “cellulite treatment” every year or two. None of these treatments have resulted in lasting results. Non-invasive therapies have included lotions, radiotherapy, as well as endermology and mesotherapy. Endermology is a deep tissue massage and high (I mean ridiculously high) water intake. Mesotherapy requires injections into the area to dissolve the fat and may have disastrous results leading to more indentations. None of those treat the real problem.

Cellfina is the first treatment I have seen that actually works. It is more invasive than previous treatments, but that is what allows us to release the bands that cause the dimples. The procedure takes about an hour and can be done with local anesthesia. There is bruising and soreness which lasts about a week. You might want to take the next day off work or do it on a Friday. The results are shown to last for at least two years and three year results look good.

Not everyone is a candidate, so a consultation is necessary to see if Cellfina will work for you. It works best for the circular dimples in thighs and buttocks.
